It's too easy to point out what you wish you had, instead I'll be the first to tell you I've been blessed with a good life. Now I may not have had the ideal jobs or athletic achievements, or Nobel Peace prizes (yet), I am grateful for what I do have and the systems of which I grew up in.
One of those great blessings is my fiancee Brooke. Wow, did I ever reel in a catch in her. I went to St. John's and Brooke went to St. Ben's, each of which are men and women private catholic colleges in central Minnesota joined together to create one curriculum. However, being nearly 5 years apart, we didn't go at the same time. As luck and fate would have it we met at an alumni swim meet a couple years ago and love struck on the dance floor at the local college bar. The rest is, as they say, history. We will be married in June of 2012 after I complete my Masters degree.
Recently we added a little addition to our family when we we're blessed with a 7 lb, 6 ounce.....furry little dog. Ha! We're not going there yet! We adopted a 3 year old mini-dachshund from a local shelter and named her Gertie, short for Gertrude. She may be small, but she's quickly established herself as the queen of the house and in doing so has marked her territory, unfortunately, around the apartment! But for the most part she's as sweet and playful as they get and loves to burrow under the covers or even under our sweatshirts!
On top of everything, I have amazing family, with the two hardworking loving parents and 2 great older brothers who have started families of their own that has given me the chance to be the best damn uncle I can be. I will be officially joining another family next year, and am excited for that as well.
Personally, I push myself everyday to be something better than I was the day before. I set tasks and goals and have the ambition to get up daily no matter what I think the future brings. I was raised to with the notion that hard work and determination eventually pays off and I’m here to see just that happen.
